10 mg vial: strength, syringe marks and draws

A 10 mg vial does not have one strength. It has a different strength for every amount of water you add. This page is the calculator with 10 mg already filled in, plus a table of what each water amount turns a 10 mg vial into.

In mL (milliliters). Use the amount you actually put in. We do not suggest an amount; your label or doctor does.

1 mg = 1,000 mcg. Some labels write mcg as µg. Same thing.

Printed on the syringe. Most insulin syringes are "U-100": 100 units equals 1 mL.

    Every cell is (amount in mg / (vial mg / water mL)) x 100, the same arithmetic the calculator above runs. Cells marked past the end need a bigger syringe or a different mix, and the mix is set by the water you chose.

    The math, worked once

    A 10 mg vial with 2 mL of water, drawing 0.25 mg

    10 / 2 = 5 mg/mL. 0.25 / 5 = 0.05 mL. 0.05 x 100 = 5 units. 10 / 0.25 = 40 draws.
